Understanding Acute & Chronic Illness
If you have a condition that lasts beyond several weeks into months or years, you are said to have a “chronic” illness. Some examples of chronic illnesses are arthritis, asthma, diabetes, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, cardiovascular disease and hypertension or high blood pressure. Acute illnesses are typically short-lived and can be resolved in a matter or days or a few weeks. Examples of acute illnesses are colds, flu, infections and physical injuries. At Northeast Primary Care our experienced primary care physicians treat both acute and chronic conditions, diseases and illnesses, including heart problems and asthma treatment.
